關於SD記憶卡同體積但容量不同的原因?

如標題~

像是外觀大小相同的SD卡

但容量卻能有4G、8G、16G、32G...等的極大落差

會造成這樣的原因是因為?

1.技術慢慢進步後同體積能置入更大的容量

2.原本同體積的極限容量都一樣只是被限制了可使用的容量

3.其他原因

稍微爬了些文章，但大多都是記憶卡演進的介紹

所以想請教一下有沒有對於這個問題有較詳細的解答
