總獎金新台幣600萬的老爺公開賽，1月17至19日在新竹老爺球場開打，泰國選手Titiya Pluckstaporn將尋求衛冕，台灣女將則是要力阻冠軍再度落入外國選手之手。

老爺公開賽邁入第十二年，台灣在2002年黃玉珍首度奪冠後，連續4年被外國選手把持，2008年由曾雅妮捧回冠軍盃，2010年起連續兩年被外國選手拿走。

到了2012年再由石惠如奪冠，去年Pluckstaporn在此封后，2007年冠軍，同樣來自泰國的Chuticahi Porani也對冠軍虎視眈眈。

台灣選手方面，2002年與2009年奪冠的黃玉珍以及老將曾秀鳳，加上新生代的姚宣榆、劉依貞、徐薇淩、李旻與錢佩芸、林子麒等，誓言將冠軍留在台灣。
