成立時間：
1962年台東縣成立
1974年遷到台南市北區實踐街，更名為國防部台南監獄
1980年遷到現址台南市六甲區
2005年11月國防部精進案組織改革，將新店監獄裁撤
2005年12月所有軍監業務全部轉移到台南軍監執行，至此台南六甲監獄成為國內唯一的軍事監獄，取名「日新山莊」。
